One of the most beautiful things of being in the Art Toy scene is to find little and unique pieces made by other artists. For instance, Mikie Graham produced a series of 10 customized Mini Jumping Brains known as "This is your Brain". These artworks as well as Your Brain on Drugs represent the 80's anti-drug scare. Playing with the shape of the mini figure, Mikie used clear resin and a little hand painted detail to make the vinyl figures resemble as a sunny-side up egg.
Finishing off the scale illusion, Mikie found miniature cast iron frying pans that perfectly fit his mini fried eggs. Each egg, comes with a customized packaging, a black cardboard box with removable photo print mounted to its lid. Both, the figure and the print come hand signed and numbered. Made specifically for the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, with 10pcs for sale at the Dragatomi booth #4935 starting on Preview night for US$45 each.
During Swab Contemporary Art Fair in Barcelona, Black Square Gallery exhibited the Jumping Brains of Emilio Garcia Mega. This pieces were 40" tall, 80" wide, and its material was fiberglass. Join us and become a Swabber from the 23rd to the 26th of May, 2012.
Emilio Garcia’s OTIVM will open Thursday 10th of May at Artoyz Paris. There will be a new series of more than 20 pieces that will explore the leisure in colorful brain mappings. A trip through our minds in different states of recreation and pleasure, this exhibition will delight visitors with Emilio’s brainy sculptures made of bronze, aluminium and resin, bright gloss colors and accurate love for details.
