SKULL BRAIN AT IMSS

Emilio Garcia took part in FACE OFF: Skull-A-Day vs Street Anatomy, an exhibition created to celebrate the 3rd Annual Skull Appreciation Day at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago.

Co-curated by Noah Scalin, founder of Skull-A-Day, and Vanessa Ruiz, founder of Street Anatomy, the show brought together artists working with skulls, anatomy, pop culture and contemporary visual language.

The exhibition explored different representations of the skull — dark and light, death and life, iconic and literal, beauty and decay — through original works and collaborative skull mashups. Emilio Garcia’s work was included as part of this dialogue between anatomical art and skull-inspired imagery.

The show opened on May 31st, 2013 and ran through August 25th, 2013.
